Robert Hook is a former Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ballarat. He retired in 2006 after 33 years in senior administrative roles in tertiary education. His final diverse portfolio included Finance, Physical Resources, Technology Park, Commercial Services, Student Accommodation and Catering. He made a significant contribution to the development of the University?s Technology Park which makes a substantial economic impact on Ballarat and its region. Robert is a Fellow of CPA Australia and a Fellow of the University of Ballarat. He is a Life Member of the Golden Point Cricket Club and of Vision Australia.
Barbara Hughes has been a member of the Committee of Management since 2001 and was appointed Chairperson in 2006. Barbara has significant business experience and a long career in Management with the Victorian Chamber of Manufacturers (7 yrs), and then Ballarat Chamber of Commerce (15 yrs). Barbara commenced her own business in 1979 and this was one of the first Employment Agencies to commence in Victoria (12yrs). She was elected as a Councillor representing the Wendouree Riding of the Shire of Ballarat in 1982 and served as Shire President in 1992. Barbara was honoured in 1996 by the State Government with an Award recognising her service to Local Government and the Community. Barbara has been a member of the Board of Ballarat Stereo Radio for 5 years (2 Chair), Deputy Chair, YMCA Board (7 yrs), Aquatic Centre Management Committee, (Deputy Chair), Ballarat Area Planning Committee (Chair, 3yrs), Council Ballarat School of Mines & Industries (Chair, Staffing Committee), Group Apprenticeship Scheme Committee (Deputy Chair), Ballarat Regional Board and several other Committees to do with State and Regional Planning and Development. Barbara is a retired member of the National Association of Personnel Consultants and the Institute of Human Resource Management.
Rod has been employed in the acute health sector at Ballarat Health Services for the past 22 years as the Human Resources Manager. Rod has responsibility for the overall management of employee services, which include recruitment, administration of employee benefits including superannuation, salary packaging and employment contracts. He was a member of Miners Rest Primary School Council from 1991 - 1999 and was president for four years and within that tenure secured funding and oversaw the construction of a new administration building and tennis/recreation grounds.
Gayle Boschert has a strong background in project development, the strategic and operational management of a range of projects and more recently policy development and contract management. She has worked as a Business Development Consultant and previous to that she has worked in Project Management, Program and Planning Management and is a qualified Dietitian with a Bachelor of Science degree and Graduate Diploma of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Peter Barton is currently employed as the Deputy CEO/Finance Manager at Hepburn Health Service based in Daylesford. Peter has had a long association with the health sector having worked for 5 years with the Department of Human Services in Melbourne, then moving to Ballarat in 1994 to the DHS Regional Office to take up the role of Finance & Contracts Manager. In 2000, Peter was offered the position at Hepburn Health Service which has developed over the period to encompass the many facets of a small rural health service. Peter has qualifications B.Bus (Acct) and a post-graduate Diploma in Health Services Management.
Peter, who resides in Ballarat and has three children at school and has an interest in the Ballarat community.
